I was in Salamanca, Spain last summer. My travel buddies and I spent the majority of our free time hanging out in the plaza mayor, especially here at La Tentazion, which was one of my favorite spots. This is a very chic and modern bar that also serves traditional tapas. They have some excellent wine choices and also offer a nice variety of drink specials for beer on draft and in bottle. They are open all day and very late into the evening as well, so it's a place to go at noon or at midnight.

I mostly loved La Tentazion for the environment. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace, but beware they charge an extra fee (1-2 euros) for sitting outside, which seems to be common practice at many places in Salamanca. This place is so hip, even the bathrooms, which are located down a narrow stairwell, are modern and well decorated too. One big downside here was the lack of wifi. Most bars and restaurants around the city offer it, and when you are a tourist trying to avoid using any data on your phone, having access to wifi is like gold! I was pretty disappointed with that.

Overall, the service was mostly good, and everyone here was nice about being patient with some of my friends who didn't speak spanish well when ordering. I did have one weird experience here that was a tad bit annoying. I went one day to grab an amstel while waiting to meet a friend and when I ordered the bartender asked if my beer was "for here or to go". Huh? Since when can you take beer "to go"? I told her obviously it's for here, paid my tab and sat at one of the outdoor tables. This was before i knew about the terrace upcharge and within 30 seconds she came outside chasing me down and yelling about sitting outside without paying the fee. Apparently by her asking if it was for here or to go, what she really meant was "Are you sitting inside our out?". Geez lady, I was a tourist who had been there literally 1 week at that point, cut me some slack!!!

Overall though, I think she was an exception to the rule of nice and friendly service here and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an ultra cool place to grab a drink or a small tapa and meet with friends.
